After each meet, one family brings a batch of their favorite cookies for the swimmers to enjoy. Often people bring enough for the parents to partake also. It's a fun tradition which everyone enjoys. Signups will be sent out via email prior to the first meet.
All Seniors have an opportunity to leave their mark on the ECS Swim & Dive Banner that follows the team to each of the meets, after their final swim/dive. For some this occurs at Districts, for some it is at Regionals and for some it's at STATES!!!
Many of the pools that the team swims at do not have much cover for the team or parents. There is a 10x10 ft, school owned, Sentinels Swim Canopy/Pop-up tent that the team sits under, but this can get very crowded for the size of our team. Many times a second canopy, brought by a parent, is used by the team. Two more canopies usually give enough cover for the parents at the meet. Basically, if you have a canopy, please bring it as it can likely be of use. Likewise, there is often limited seating, so being your soft folding chairs for both you and your swimmer/diver(s).
Many of the early season meets are in the warm to hot temperatures. Most pools allow coolers to be brought in. Keep plenty of water and electrolyte drinks on hand, again, both for you and your swimmer/diver(s).
Don't forget a couple fun things: Black Sharpie Marker (swimmers use it to mark their heats on their legs or arms), Highlighter Pen (this is used to highlight the events/heat/names/lanes if an Event Sheet is purchased/printed), Snacks (some meets can get long, so health snacks are a good idea.)
ECS is in the FHSAA (Florida High School Athletic Association). Class: A1, Region: 2, District: 6

These meets are an excused absence from school, as the meets usually start early in the morning and goes into the afternoon. These are large meets, as our District contains 11 schools and the Private 8 Championships has 8 schools. There are entrance fees and heat sheets can be purchased at the concession stand. The District meet is a very exciting meet as it is the start of the State Championship Series. To see more information regarding qualifying time and averages, click here.
These meets are also an excused absence from school if the meet lands on a weekday. They both frequently occur on Saturdays, which is nice for traveling. These are both qualifying meets base on the times for individual and relay results from the District and Regional meets. Entrance fee and heat sheets can be purchased.
District to Regionals: For Individual Events - the top 2 finishers in each event from each of the 3 Districts, as well as the next overall best times (at large spots) to fill a field of 24 swimmers will advance. For Relay Events - the top finisher from each District meet shall advance, as well as the next overall best times (at large spots) to fill a field of 16 teams. Those at large best times must be among the top 8 finishers from the District meets.
Regionals to States: Individual and relay teams qualify in the same manner as noted above for Regional selection with the same number of qualifiers moving on.
